Perry-McCall hosts Topping Out Ceremony for Historic Downtown Parking Facility at the Visitors Information Center
March 17, 2006 - (Jacksonville, Fla.) A Topping Out Ceremony was held today in St. Augustine, Fla., at the Historic Downtown Parking Facility at the Visitors Information Center to signal the point of highest vertical construction for this project.
The ceremony, which is a time-honored tradition in the commercial construction industry to mark the highest point of vertical construction, was celebrated by a host of participants including project architects and engineers, elected city officials who made it possible to start construction of the parking garage, and members of the Perry-McCall management and field construction teams.
Traditionally, the ceremony is marked by all involved team members signing the last beam to be set in place. Since the project is scheduled for a June 2006 completion date, allowing it to open in time for the Independence Day celebrations hosted by the city, participants signed a cememorative banner instead. This allowed the project to remain on schedule to meet the early summer completion date.
