Description:
An attractive focal point in a historic city, the four-story, 1,170-space Historic Downtown Parking Facility at the Visitors Information Center (VIC) was designed and constructed using structural precast, cast-in-place concrete, architectural concrete, masonry and stone veneer. Hardscaping and landscaping included decorative touches and lavish site furnishings. A remarkable pedestrian plaza bridges the gap between the parking garage and the VIC. It is built in direct line with the Cubo Line—the city’s historic outer defense fortification. The plaza has a Spanish Colonial theme, very similar to St. George Street. With parking rapidly becoming an issue in the historic section of St. Augustine, this facility was an excellent and attractive solution for the nation’s oldest city.
