FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH OF JACKSONVILLE – MAIN AUDITORIUM RENOVATIONS

PROJECT INFORMATION:

Project: First Baptist Church of Jacksonville – Main Auditorium Renovations
Location: Jacksonville, Florida
Owner: First Baptist Church of Jacksonville
Construction Cost: $2.6 Million
Project Size: 95,655 SF
Completion: January 2011

First Baptist Church of Jacksonville is one of the area’s oldest churches and sits on a sprawling campus in downtown Jacksonville. In late 2009, Perry-McCall Construction was hired as Construction Manager for a renovation of the main worship sanctuary. Working with Atlanta based, CDH Partners, our team provided full pre-construction services, including costing, constructability, and coordination review of the documents.

The renovation included all new finishes in the main sanctuary, as well as new lighting and audio/visual equipment. The stage area was extended and floor leveled in the stadium seating configured auditorium. In addition to work in the sanctuary, six new classrooms were added in space previously occupied by overflow seating areas.

To successfully accomplish this project Perry-McCall employed shift work, installation of temporary seating until sections were completed, re-routing of CCTV, Audio/Visual trunk lines, temporary flooring, dust partitions and use of dedicated outside barricaded work zones. This allowed us to have the sanctuary ready, every Sunday morning, for the full complement of worship services.
