PROJECT INFORMATION:Project: Fletcher Middle School
Location: Jacksonville, Florida
Owner: Duval County Public Schools
Construction Cost: $11.1 Million
Project Size: 135,000 SF
Completion: December 1997Duncan U. Fletcher Middle School posed unique challenges that included complete renovations to a 60 year old campus and construction of new facilities, all while the school was fully occupied with over 1,000 students.

Built in 1937 as a Jr. / Sr. high school, the original school was an important piece of history to the surrounding community, who wanted to preserve the old buildings. The original façade was salvaged and restored, and now serves as a historic landmark in the school’s central courtyard. The project included demolition to much of the existing facility, and construction of new classrooms, administration offices, media center, auditorium, kitchen, and cafeteria. Additionally, a new football stadium, with field house, was constructed for use by the neighboring high school team.
